Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC) happens only once a year and is always one of the most fascinating and enriching experiences in Silicon Valley. Comic-Con 2019 kicked off on Aug 16 in San Jose Convention Center with a fantastic group of people as well as great and engaging.
It is delightful to see the kids play with our Giant Moon Map during SVCC.
As you would expect at an event called Comic-con, there were a vast amount of geeks, nerds, and cosplayers, all of whom were deeply fascinated and engaged with AstroReality’s mission and goal of helping people better learn and interact with Space. AstroReality is partnered with SVCC 2019. We showed our Moons, Earth, and AR notebooks, and especially enjoyed interacting with everyone who came to our booth. Our Chief Science Officer J.R. Skok was giving a speech during the Mars Exploration Panel to talk about how we are using technology, design, and storytelling to make Mars into a real place in the minds of the public.

It was fun to also get direct feedback from some of our fans, who showed up and told us how much they enjoy our product. Also, many people said what they think we should do next. Some of the suggestions were a death star, Tatooine, as well as people, wanted to have new Augmented Reality Easter Eggs such as the Monolith from 2001: a Space odyssey.
It was fascinating to meet Chris Hadfield in SVCC, and learn about his experience of looking at planet Earth from ISS.
The main highlight for us was the special visitor that came by on Saturday, which was none other than the former commander of the ISS – Chris Hadfield. Chris came and did a speech and talked and educated people for more than an hour. Spending time with Chris Hadfield, was a lot of fun chatting with him and getting to hear his insights on the products and receiving his feedback on what to do to help make more effective educational products. When he knew that our NASA Space Mug can also give an Earth view from ISS, he shared his fascinating experience of looking at planet Earth from space was inspiring for everyone, especially the future space pioneers.

Overall, it was a fantastic show, and we were happy to engage with a different audience and learn about the new opportunities to educate through entertainment. We look forward to meeting you next time in Comic Con.
