Finally, I received the package from the Astroreality last week. What a great joy! I couldn’t wait to open it immediately after I got home. What makes me so excited? Let me show you now.
The science products with the most geek spirit. The technology products with the most humanistic spirit.
The release of the movie The Wandering Earth a few months ago made the universe and science fiction movies a hot topic. I watched the movie in the Midtown AMC in New York and was amazed by the astonishing special effects. Surprisingly, AstroReality is also one of the co-brands of The Wandering Earth.
AstroReality is a global brand with the theme of space exploration. It focuses on 3D printed planetary models and other astronomical related peripheral products. Through AR (Augmented Reality) technology, users can experience an immersive feeling when interacting with the products.
AR technology brings the mysterious cosmic galaxies closer to life. This technology has also been applied to many educational and game products, such as Pokemon go which is familiar to everyone. Open AR and you can see the Pokemon jumping around as they are really existing.
On AstroReality’s official website, you can see a series of products related to astronomy, such as 3D printed planetary models with different sizes, astronomical element notebooks with AR technology, and a series of products with NASA. Although there are not many types, each product is attractive enough for astronomy enthusiasts.
After opening the package, it is a beautiful black carton with 9 small boxes and 9 mini “balls”.
Although the product is named with “Solar System”, it also contains Pluto. However, in 2006, due to the new definition of the solar system planet, Pluto was “unfortunately” demoted. So now there are only 8 planets in the solar system! Therefore, the mini model set contains models of 8 planets plus Pluto.
Open the box, you will see each planet model is under good protection surrounded by sponge, without any damage in your hand, very complete.
The effect of 3D printing is not bad, but the details are not in perfection. You can see the 3D printed sphere texture, but the overall printing accuracy is not as high as expected. It looks a little bit plain without good lighting and filter.
However, it can be understood that after all, since the sphere is very small and the convexity of the sphere needs to be guaranteed. If it is polished, the undulations of the sphere itself may be lost, as well as the sense of texture.
It may also be that the model is too small, resulting in details that cannot be better rendered by 3D printing. The larger planet models shown on the official website have more refined details in color and texture processing. For those who are interested in astronomical hands, you can try the larger-size models, which I believe the experience will better.
The design of this notebook is very beautiful – hardcover with the small craters of the moon, simulating the lunar surface. The paper is quite good, and it is very comfortable to write on it. The size (length 17 cm, width 12 cm) is also suitable for carrying in the bag. I usually like to put a small book and a pen in my bag, which is convenient for writing and drawing.
The uniqueness of this book is its AR interactive experience. Inner pages, the title pages are all in the moon theme. Open the book, you can see the AR page of the Lunar goddess Diana. The first page shows the moon landing mission Apollo 11 with the picture of astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The back cover of the book also introduced the knowledge of LUNAR in detail.
Whether it is a successful product or a good gift, it needs to have emotional connections. AstroReality products successfully made it.
It may be because I love playing games, there are quite a few friends who like collections around me. Usually to celebrate his or her birthday, or career promotion, or other important events, a unique gift is something that cannot be left off. AstroReality’s series of products are exquisitely crafted, plus an innovative sense of technology with Augmented Reality. Sending such a gift will definitely give your friends a big surprise.
The moon-themed notebook is a good companion for stationery lovers or those who love to record their daily life. The abundant moon element, plus the high-quality paper, and the back pocket design make this notebook unique and practical.
If you are a sci-fi movie fan and have been motivated by the first Chinese science fiction movie “The Wandering Earth”; if you have had astronomical dreams since childhood and is eager to explore the mystery of the stars; if you have unlimited curiosity about new technology or have been involved in the study if 3D printing or AR – then AstroReality is a treasured store to reward yourself!
Imagine you just come back home after a whole-day tiring work, and open the glass cabinet in the corner of the room – your own little world, for you to play and enjoy your collection. What a great pleasure in life!
I work in the education industry. By the moment I saw this product, it flashed into my mind that these planetary products are just perfect for kids to learn about space. I believe that AstroReality is not only designing these products just for interest and fun. Therefore, I found out from the website that AstroReality has partnered with Earth Ed in Melbourne, Australia, providing customized, project-based academic packages for the Earth science classroom. If your kids are full of curiosity to the stars, AstroReality’s solar system toys are a perfect match. Explore the mysteries of the universe with your family.
However, each planet model in the Solar System Mini Set is in the same size, not to scale. If it is for educational and learning purposes, it is recommended that parents can start with the to-scale-size planets. The Solar System Ultimate Set here has more educational value since it eliminates the confusion of kids who are new to the universe.
At the same time, due to the small size, the mini planet set cannot be compared with the large size models in the details. You can find 120mm LUNAR Pro and EARTH models on the website, which are in precision and very beautiful.
If you want to play a little bit more, all you need is just a smartphone plus the AstroReality app.
Turn on the app, choose “Add a product”. Then turn to the last page of the user manual of each mini models. Scan the QR code to pair the model with your device.
Click on the tab of the newly added product, and scan the model as well as the black and white AR Marker. Now you can see the planet in the solar system and the details of the planet itself by zooming in and out.
The Augmented Reality effect significantly added the scientific value of the product, with pros and cons.
I believe that this app is still in the process of continuous iteration. I hope that in the future, the software experience would be even better.
On the other hand, the AR experience of the LUNAR AR Notebook is much better. After adding the notebook in the same way, and pointing your mobile phone to the image of Diana, you will see a dynamic virtual moon rotating in front of you. The whole picture is exquisite and stable. The Moon is rotating without manual effort. At the same time, the fingers can also freely move the moon to watch various craters. Click on the name of the crater to view the 3D terrains of the lunar surface and detailed information of the crater. It is very intuitive and vivid.
AstroReality’s Solar System Mini Set is a perfect intro to this brand. After experiencing this mini planet set and learning about other products of the brand, I have put the larger-size planetary models and AR notebooks into my shopping waitlists now.
Due to the limitation of size, the appearance of each individual model in this mini planet set cannot show the perfect texture and details. However, I was interested in this product because of the 3D printing on the color of the planet and the restoration of the terrain, so it is a little regrettable.
I actually didn’t expect too much about the AR Notebook before, which gave me a big surprise after experiencing. The first half of the notebook is in white papers, which are suitable for sketching and writing, and the second half of the notebook in line papers are good for drawing simple UI and wireframe. The more playable AR experience makes this notebook my favorite of this year. I am very grateful to the gifts of Dealmoon and AstroReality.
