Next station: Mars

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun, the second smallest planet in the solar system, and about half the diameter of the Earth. Mars has a carbon dioxide dominated atmosphere full of iron oxide dust, which is widely distributed across the surface and is responsible for providing the planet’s red color and frequent dust storms.

Perfect gift for a space enthusiast
“The packaging is beautiful, and after unboxing it you end up with a very hefty little Mars globe in full color with 3D textures. I already had the AstroReality app on my phone from one of their notebooks and it was easy to add this product by scanning the QR code in the instruction booklet. As long as the globe sits on its stand the AR kicks in right away and displays about a dozen or so locations of interest. Tapping on those brings up either a picture or some text information. It took me a minute to figure out that you have to hit 'Align' at the top of the app to make sure the locations display in the correct location on the globe, but it's easy once you do that.

Overall I'd say this is a great gift idea for someone interested in space, and could be used in the classroom as well. For higher resolution and more education value I'd recommend the larger Pro versions that I've seen in person. One thing that can be improved is the size of the overlaid images in the app and the amount of multimedia content in general, but that could be added in future software updates.”
